> District 49 has grown alongside Falcon's residential expansion. The schools are newer, generally well-regarded, and still adapting to rapid enrollment growth.
About District 49
Colorado's Academy School District 49 serves the eastern El Paso County area including Falcon, Peyton, and adjacent communities. It's a separate district from Colorado Springs' D11 or the Academy District 20 to the north. D49 has invested heavily in new school construction as the area has grown.
Elementary schools in the area
Sandcreek International Elementary, Frontier Elementary, and Legacy Peak Elementary are among the schools serving Falcon-area neighborhoods. Boundary assignments depend on your specific subdivision — confirm your assignment before finalizing a purchase.
Middle and high school options
Palmer Ridge High School and Vista Ridge High School both serve eastern El Paso County students. Both have newer facilities and competitive extracurricular programs. Some families in northern Falcon subdivisions also fall under Falcon High School boundaries.
Boundary changes
D49 has been redrawing school boundaries regularly as new neighborhoods open. Always verify current assignments directly with the district before assuming which school your address feeds.
Charter and choice options
D49 has several charter schools including ATLAS Preparatory. Open enrollment options exist but spaces can be competitive, especially for well-regarded programs.
